In order for the Zabbix server to use this database, you need to set the database password in the Zabbix server configuration file. Open the configuration file in your preferred text editor. This tutorial will use vi:

The web interface setup is complete. This process creates the configuration file /etc/zabbix/web/zabbix.conf.php which you could back up and use in the future. Click Finish to proceed to the login screen. The default user is Admin and the password is zabbix.

An adversary that has access to network communications may attempt to use session hijacking tools to interrupt, terminate or steal a Server Message Block (SMB) session. This could potentially allow an adversary to modify packets and forward them to a SMB server to perform undesirable actions or to pose as the server or client after a legitimate authentication has taken place to gain access to sensitive information. To reduce this risk, all communications between SMB clients and servers should be signed, with any passwords used appropriately encrypted.

It is important to harden the Windows Server operating system before installing SQL Server on it. Otherwise, attackers who cannot defeat your SQL Server security measures can simply go around them: They will gain access to the OS and copy the data files to their own server, where they can break passwords and encryption at their leisure. To learn what to do, review these Windows Server hardening best practices.

Misconfiguration is when there is an error in system configuration. For example, if setup pages are enabled or a user uses default usernames and passwords, this can lead to breaches. With setup/app server configuration not disabled, the hacker can determine hidden flaws, and this provides them with extra information. Misconfigured devices and apps present an easy entry point for an attacker to exploit.

Confidentiality: Assurance that no entity can maliciously or unwittingly view a payload in clear text. Data is encrypted to make it secret, such that even if it was read, it appears as gibberish. Perhaps the most common use of PKI for confidentiality purposes is in the context of Transport Layer Security (TLS). TLS is a capability underpinning the security of data in transit, i.e. during transmission. A classic example of TLS for confidentiality is when using an internet browser to log on to a service hosted on an internet based web site by entering a password.

In the case of consumer cloud storage, though, the subject of this article, that server is located in the remote data center run by the cloud company and you connect to it via the internet. That company might be a traditional cloud storage company like Dropbox or Google Drive, or a cloud infrastructure service like one of those mentioned in our best cloud IaaS guide.

In our not so ideal world, we tend to leave all our application secrets (passwords, API tokens) exposed in our source code. Storing secrets in plain sight isn't such a good idea, is it? At DeepSource, we have embraced the issue by incorporating a robust secrets management system in our infrastructure from day one. This post explains how to setup secret management in Kubernetes with HashiCorp Vault.

You might be wondering why are we using the Consul server when the architecture is already a bit complex to wrap your head around. Vault requires a backend to store all encrypted data at rest. It can be your filesystem backend, a cloud provider, a database or a Consul cluster.
